We tested the Argos Lisbon 4 seater sofa looking at price, style, comfort and quality. We ordered from Argos and found that arranging delivery was easy. Upon arrival we were greeted by two delivery personnel that had no trouble getting the Sofa up to us - the testing room was up one flight of stairs. The sofa was really easy to unpack and all we had to do was screw 4 feet onto the base with a shiny gold allen key and that was it. So far, so good. We then set about using the sofa daily to get a feel for it and whether it was good value or not. What we found is below. 

Price. 

The price of the Sofa when purchased on 29 january 2025 was £555 + £6.95 delivery. We used a promo code at the time that saved us £111 so the actual cost was £450.95. This we found to be very good for a 4 seater sofa with such quick delivery. 

Style. 

This sofa has a contemporary style that could fit in almost anywhere, especially in the charcoal colour. It has an elegant look to it with simple scroll arms. The plastic feet do look a bit cheap though and aren't so great but are not very noticeable. I felt this sofa could work in a modern setting as well as a more traditional environment like a country cottage. In addition, with the charcoal colour scheme I felt it would be possible to blend it with other colours relatively easily and it wouldn't look too bad with a colourful, patterned throw or different cushions. 

Comfort. 

We found the cushions to be very comfortable and the material was satisfactory (Argos did offer a free fabric swatch at the time of writing). The cushions were of a medium firmness and made of 100% polyester. The one problem with the bottom seat cushions that was, and still is very annoying is that it constantly slips - this is why we hate this sofa. Due to the seat cushions constantly slipping forward you constantly have to push it back in. This is really something Argos should get sorted because as far as we were concerned this was the only flaw with an otherwise perfectly reasonable sofa. 

Quality.

The frame is made of solid hardwood and is upholstered. We found it easy to clean as all the cushions are removable for cleaning and hoovering is very easy as you simply remove the seat and back cushions. The only drawback is you can't just put the washing machine covers in the washing machine. Argos say 'professional clean' only. In the instructions it just says 'Only clean using a damp cloth and mild detergent'. It then goes on to say 'Do not use' but doesn't tell you what not to use which we found a bit odd. This isn't much of an issue for us but with pets and kids this could be a bit of a problem. If anything were to happen  to the frame Argos boast about a 10 year frame guarantee but details of this guarantee were nowhere to be seen. 

Verdict. 

The Argos Lisbon 4‑Seater Sofa is a stylish, affordable, large sofa with a strong frame guarantee and is ideal for those needing a large sofa at a low price with trusted, quick delivery. However, there is always Amazon available offering that as well. We found it good for coordinating with décor and a bonus was the removable fabric for the cushions. However, we don't think it would be great for substantial daily use households, those wanting long-term comfort, or anyone who prefers to 'sit before they buy'. Therefore, If you're looking for something more durable, consider the likes of  Sofology, or Furniture Village, which often have higher comfort and reliability standards but may be more pricey. Ultimately, what lets this sofa down is that the seat cushions always slip out, it's not that easy to clean and the fabric could be better.
